Who reviews our content

Patient guides are reviewed by the Precover Editorial Team — an internal group that combines product, software, and clinical operations backgrounds. Our Medical Director is Adam Levy, MD — board-certified plastic surgeon (American Board of Plastic Surgery) — listed on the clinical team page with verifiable credentials. Named physician advisors are listed on the clinical team page with verifiable credentials; Precover does not invent or imply credentials it does not have. As additional named clinical reviewers are onboarded, we'll list them here with their credentials, the guides they reviewed, and the date they reviewed them — and we'll backfill reviewedBy in the page schema so it's machine-readable.

If you are a board-certified plastic surgeon, anesthesiologist, dietitian, or sleep specialist and want to review a guide for the public byline, email support@precover.app.

How we source

• Every patient guide ends with a Sources list of primary references — society guidelines (ASA, ASPS, AANA), peer-reviewed journals, and official drug labels. Each is linked and dated.
• The same sources are emitted as citation entries inside the guide's MedicalWebPage JSON-LD so search engines and AI assistants can verify them.
• When guidelines change, we update the guide and bump its Reviewed date. Older versions are visible in our public git history.

The rules engine

The Proceed / Prepare / Pause readiness signal is produced by a deterministic, auditable rules engine — not a language model. Each rule has a name, a severity, and a citation; the engine returns the exact list of rules that fired for your screening so anyone (you, your surgeon) can replay why.

AI is used only for two narrow tasks: parsing free-text medication lists into structured items, and rewriting clinical bullet points into plain-English summaries. AI never decides your readiness.

What we will not claim

• We do not claim to clear anyone for surgery or anesthesia.
• We do not claim individual physicians have endorsed the tool unless they have, in writing, with credentials we can verify.
• We do not claim HIPAA compliance — Precover is a consumer wellness tool, not a covered entity.
• We do not claim our guides replace the conversation with your surgical and anesthesia team. They organize it.

Corrections

Found an error or outdated guideline in any guide? Email support@precover.app with the URL and the source you'd like us to look at. We respond to correction requests within five business days.
